What is Limited Access?

Limited Access is an origin or destination point that isn’t easily accessible. Most carriers will add an accessorial charge for limited access locations. Examples of limited access locations include:

  • Schools
  • Residential locations
  • Government buildings

In most cases, it’s not about whether the physical location is difficult to get to, but whether there are measures in place to limit who and what is able to get there. For example, private residences may be in gated communities or have restrictions that limit the passage of cargo and freight deliveries to specific days and times during the week.
