What are Intermodal Trailers?

Many intermodal trailers come in the form of marine shipping containers. Heavy-duty forklifts and cranes are needed to unload these off ships and railcar flatbeds. Trucks using a trailer chassis can assist in shipping them further depending on whether they are loaded or empty.

Due to the weight, only a limited amount of cargo can travel in a container that is being moved by truck.
