What is Bulk Cargo?

Raw materials like sand, fertilizer, grains, and some liquids are often shipped as bulk cargo. It is also known as bulk freight. 

Transporting bulk cargo requires a number of special considerations depending on the type and quantity being moved. In some cases, special trailers are needed. Shipments of sand and grain are often transported using open top trailers.
