A Bill of Lading (BoL) is a legal document that’s required for freight shipments. The following details are included on a Bill of Lading:

• Details of the shipper and receiver
• Contents of the shipment including weight, quantity, packaging, etc.
• Hazardous materials designation
• Pickup date

There are different types of BoLs for use in various situations and transport modes. It is one of many documents that shippers need to include with their freight.
