What is FAK Rate?

Instead of providing shippers with quotes based on each commodity being sent, FAK rates are based on broad options.

  • Average density of multiple commodities
  • Size of shipping container
  • Size of package/crate

The standards depend on what method of shipping you plan on using – ocean or truck.

A true FAK rate offer is rare in trucking, and these are more likely to be granted to shippers who have been working with a single carrier partner for a long period of time. FAK rates are much more common in ocean freight services than in either truck or rail carriers.
