What is an Electronic Logging Device (ELD)?

An Electronic Logging Device (ELD) is used to electronically record a truck driver’s Hours of Service (HOS) compliance. The primary purpose of ELDs is to ensure that commercial truck drivers adhere to the federal and state regulations governing their working hours and driving limits. This is meant to enhance safety on the roads and promote fair working conditions for drivers.

However, the strictness of ELDs has also created new challenges for drivers. Especially during times when loading or unloading takes longer than it should. It can eat into time a driver could be using for other tasks.

These tasks, or lack of, can contribute to certain delays along the supply chain.
