What is a Cargo Release?

Cargo release is a critical step in the logistics process. It signifies the formal approval and documentation required for the transfer of ownership and responsibility for the goods from the shipper or warehouse operator to the carrier or trucking company.

Without an official cargo release notice, drivers may be unable to pick up designated cargo. The result is the issuance of dry run fees.

It’s also a problem for drivers that don’t receive notification that cargo has become released. Since the driver is unaware the goods are available for pickup, they end up leaving without it. This also results in dry run fees.
