What is a Delivery Receipt?

Delivery receipt is both an official notice and an end-of-shipment inspection that assesses if any damage was caused to freight during transportation.

It may be used to determine if the freight carrier holds any liability for damages. Carriers will typically keep an electronic form of this document for their records. This is sometimes referred to as a proof of delivery.

Also, without a delivery receipt (or if one exists, but is unsigned), it will be hard to prove whether any damage found was the carrier’s fault.

Delivery receipts protect customers, drivers, and carriers from misinformation and serve as proof of services rendered.
