What is a Chassis Charge?

A Chassis Charge applies when drivers need to transport shipping containers to or from port. Shipping containers are most often moved using a special trailer known as a container chassis.

Chassis charges are most common when goods get transported via drayage to a warehouse from an ocean port. Drayage has become the best solution for getting shipping containers out of port terminals quickly and efficiently.

In recent years, chassis charges have risen as rising imports revealed drastic shortages in the actual supply of chassis available to the trucking industry.
